In my work I oscillate between painting and assemblage, and my mixed media works are mostly a combination of both. In painting my work runs along two parallel lines of interest: abstract and figurative, the latter predominantly landscape.

The objects I use in my work, or their fragments, have a purely visual function. Sometimes a message begins to come through, carried by the objects' emerging symbolism, and then the piece is no longer entirely abstract. In some pieces the message gives itself to a wide interpretation and not everything reveals itself all at once. I work intuitively, guided by whatever happens at the start and in the course of the work.

l am often guided by an urge to try something out like a new material or a found object, or a desire to achieve a certain result, a harmonious coexistence of tactile friction or incongruity of shape and colour. I listen to my intuition and try not to stray too far from the path that takes me to a place both familiar and unknown. Sometimes the first mark on a canvas or two objects put next to each other will take me in a direction I have not considered. When I look at my old work I sometimes wonder, why or how did I do that? People are often surprised by the range of form, medium and subject in my work. I do, however, have a singular and neatly defined vision of my work. My art is my reaction to the world within me and also outside of me.
